From 3 to 12 October, l’Ametlla de Mar once again becomes the epicentre of seafaring cuisine with the celebration of the 14th Gastronomic Days of Arrossejat and Market Fish.

This year, the main protagonist is arrossejat, a dish that is part of the local identity and that year after year captivates both locals and visitors. Alongside it, the market fish continues to be the ambassador of freshness and quality of this fishing town, bringing to life menus created with techniques that range from tradition to innovation.

For ten days, fourteen restaurants in the town —including La Subhasta Espai Gastronòmic— will offer special menus ranging from €30 to €65, with arrossejat and market fish as the main themes.

A unique opportunity to experience the gastronomy of l’Ametlla de Mar, with the unmistakable stamp of the Mediterranean.

Arrossejat, the dish that explains a story

In l’Ametlla de Mar, there is a dish that goes beyond the simple act of sitting at the table: arrossejat. It is cooking, but it is also identity, and it has become a way of telling who we are as a seafaring people.

Its origin goes back to the life of fishermen, who between fishing trips took advantage to cook on the boat with what they had on hand. With fresh fish, a potato and allioli always present, they improvised meals that filled the day with flavour. From that humble cooking, made with ingenuity and tradition, arrossejat was born: a toasted, intense and unmistakable rice dish, capable of transforming simplicity into a true feast.

Today, arrossejat is much more than a memory of our grandparents. It is a living dish, present in the homes and restaurants of the town, connecting generations and maintaining the bond with the sea. That is why we dedicate a gastronomic festival to it, where this year it is the main protagonist.

Gastronomic Days 2025

From 3 to 12 October, l’Ametlla de Mar hosts the 14th Gastronomic Days of Arrossejat and Market Fish. For ten days, 14 restaurants in the town will offer special menus (€30–65) where tradition and creativity come together around these two great protagonists: arrossejat and market fish.

The highlight will be on 12 October with the 39th Diada of Arrossejat at the port: a contest of amateur cooks, tastings by the Fishermen’s Guild and pairings with wines from the DO Terra Alta. All in a festive atmosphere with castells, music and popular activities that make this Diada one of the most emblematic gastronomic events of the Terres de l’Ebre.

Market fish: the freshness of every day

The Gastronomic Days would not be possible without another great protagonist: market fish. Every day in l’Ametlla de Mar, the Fishermen’s Guild auctions the best product fresh from the sea, which then goes directly to the kitchens of the town’s restaurants.

These fresh fish and seafood are the heart of the local gastronomy and the guarantee that every menu of the Gastronomic Days reflects the quality and the Mediterranean essence that define l’Ametlla.
